You should do this course if...

You already have a grade D and want to retake GCSE Mathematics in order to gain a grade C.

You intend to move on to one of the large number of higher  education courses and careers which require a grade C in GCSE Mathematics.

Skills you will develop on this course:

  • The ability represent and analyse data.
  • The ability to think and reason mathematically.
  • The use of mathematics to tackle problems in the workplace and everyday life.
  • Examination skills.

Topics studied:

  • Handling Data - Data collection, graphs and charts, averages, correlation and probability.
  • Number and basic algebra.
  • Algebra, Space, Shape and Measure: Equations, sequences, graphs, lines and angles,
    triangles, polygons, circles, transformations, constructions, areas and volumes.

How will you learn?

You can expect to work on your own and as part of a group. Your tutors will help you to identify the topics you need work on. You may be taught as a whole class or make use of our topic based resources to meet your individual needs.

You will use textbooks, power points, graphical software and internet sites to revise and become more confident in your use of mathematics.

Where does the course lead?

GCSE Mathematics is in great demand by employers. It is also an essential qualification for many Higher education courses and careers

Assessment and Exams:

The course is assessed by six written papers – three with and three without a calculator.

There is no longer any coursework.

Entry Requirements:

Grade D in GCSE Mathematics.
