Sociology

Sociology is the study of societies and how they shape people’s ideas, their social behaviour and their cultures, and how in turn people interact together and shape their societies. The core themes of socialisation, culture and identity, social differentiation, power and stratification run through many areas of social life and are applied to the modular subjects of Exploring Socialisation, Culture and Identity at AS Level; Power and Control, Exploring Social Inequality and Difference at A2 Level.

And afterwards... Careers for which Sociology may have relevance include teaching, journalism, the police, social work, nursing and the Civil Service. Many students progress to university to study Psychology, Sociology, Education, Social Administration, Politics, Law or Criminology.
