Latin
This course develops knowledge of Latin language and literature and provides further understanding of Roman culture and civilization. An enormous part of what gives Europe its common identity is based on the language, culture and principles of Ancient Rome. Students learn and study the language by reading texts and completing vocabulary, grammar and translation exercises based on works by authors of the first century BC and the first century AD. The other element of the course investigates and interprets literary, social, moral and historical issues of Ancient Rome and classical civilization through Latin literature dating from the same period.
And afterwards… A Level Latin is a highly regarded qualification among university admission tutors. You can study Latin on its own or in combination with many humanities and arts courses, especially Classical Civilization, History, Law, Philosophy, Theology or a European language. Latin is a useful asset for anyone whose career aspirations involve the subjects above, as well as journalism, science, government or politics.
