History of Art

The A Level in History of Art is for those students with an interest in how art, architecture and artefacts reflect the development of our civilization. With an emphasis on Western Art from pre-history to the present day, you will learn why buildings became huge, how statues can show movement and how painting evolved into photography and film.

And afterwards… The majority of students go on to study a related subject at university. History of Art is good for students who wish to go on to study a practical art subject, such as Textiles or Fine Art. It is also good for people studying English Literature, RE, Sociology, History of Art, History or Media Studies.
