Art (Fine Art)
High standards of observational drawing, painting and other creative skills are the basis for creating exciting work on the Fine Art course. Whilst encouraging you to develop your analytical thinking, you will experiment and develop work using a range of materials which will enable you to produce fresh exciting art pieces that challenge your own pre-conceptions and ideas. We work in a broad range of mediums, from traditional drawing and painting, computer software to Textiles and Sculpture. At the end of the year students exhibit their work in our Art & Design show at the Lightbox Gallery in Woking town centre. One evening a week we run a life drawing class. This will help you improve your drawing skills and overall ability to look, record and interpret what you see through different media. These classes are for all Art students and for those intending to continue their creative studies to build a portfolio of work.
And afterwards… The majority of students continue on to an Art Foundation course at art college or progress straight onto Art degree courses. Students can also combine Art with another subject at university for a career in architecture and theatre design.
