Art & Design (Applied)
The Applied A Level in Art & Design (Double Award) encourages students who are creative and innovative individuals. You will learn to work to realistic briefs which allow you to explore 2D and/or 3D disciplines. You will specialise more in the second year in combinations of Design, Fine Art or Multimedia. The main purpose of the qualification in Applied Art & Design is to serve as a preparation for students who wish to progress to higher education in the field of Art & Design or wish to enter into a work placement in a creative industry. Ideally, you will be committed to taking this course through to the second year. You will achieve a double AS grade after one year and then a Double A Level grade after the second year. There will be professional elements to the course which will involve working with visiting artists and also with the Lightbox Art Gallery in Woking.
And afterwards… Through a system of critique sessions, portfolio and mock interviews, you will be prepared to move onto either a Foundation course or a degree in your chosen field. Alternatively you might feel ready to move onto employment, your portfolio being used to great effect in any interview. This could be in fields of work ranging from Graphic Design and Illustration to Fine Art, Sculpture or Animation.
